Monday Missive Fall Pathways~

by Christine Roberts | Nov 04, 2019

This week we are going to have fun with Pathways; straight, curvy and zig-zag.  These travel through space and give us creative options for getting to where we want to go.  The corresponding body shapes, straight, curved and bent add another dimension to the experience.  These three pathways/body shapes make up all the lines in the alphabet - what your baby/child masters at a gross motor level they master at a fine motor level.  This is a great concept for that.
Here's a quote from the Center on the Developing Child that sums it up nicely:
"Brains are built in a hierarchical fashion, starting with the simplest circuits and then moving up to more complex circuits. Sensory pathways like those for basic vision and hearing are the first to develop, followed by early language skills and higher cognitive functions. Connections proliferate and prune in a prescribed order: the timing is determined genetically but the experiences affect whether the circuits are strong or weak. The brain is never a blank slate-every new competency is built upon competencies that came before. Cognitive, emotional, and social capacities are inextricably intertwined in the brain, and in a like fashion, learning, behavior, and both physical and mental health are highly interrelated throughout the life course."
These years are the most important years of your child's life~!
